Principles of our Lending

Seven major financial Bible principles we follow with our lending:

1. Sowing and Reaping

Let us not become weary doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal 6:9

Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly. Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully. 2 Cor 9:6

2. Interest-free Lending among God’s People

Do not charge your brother interest ... so that the Lord your God may bless you in everything you put your hand to.

Deut. 23:19–20

Also Ex 22:25, Lev 25:36, Neh 5:1-13, Ps 15:5, Pr 28:8, Ez 18:9, 18:13, 18:17, Ez 22:12.

3. Stewardship Responsibility

You have been blessed that you might be a blessing. Gen 12:2

If then you have not proved trustworthy with the wealth of this world, who will trust you with the wealth that is real.

Luke 16:11.  Also Lk 12:42, Titus 1:7, Col 3:23

4. Freedom from Debt

The borrower is servant [slave] to the lender. Prov 22:7b

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and .. to release the oppressed. Lk 4:18

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Gal. 5:1

5. Eliminating the Need to Borrow from “The World”

You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.  The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. Deut. 28:12–13

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers, for what does righteousness and wickedness have in common? 2 Cor. 6:14

6. The Storehouse

The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand. Deut 28:8

The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.  Deut 28:12

At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. Deut 14:28-29

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Mal 3:10.

Consider the ant, consider it’s ways and be wise … see how it stores its provisions in Summer. Pr 6:6-8.

In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. Prov 21:20.

7. God’s Community – His Family

All the believers were one in heart and mind ... [and] shared everything they had. Acts 4:32.

Whatever gift you have received, use it in service to one another, like good stewards, dispensing the grace of God.

1 Pet. 4:10

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Gal 6:10
